Slow Play

Hi Members,

Slow play is a problem not only at our club, but clubs across the world. This is evident with many of the upcoming rule changes designed to specifically speed up play. There are many things that we can do to assist the overall time taken for our rounds and small changes can have a great impact on not only your game, but all players in the field.

Some things to remember:

We play “ready golf” at GLGC. Walk briskly to your ball and play your shot as soon as you are ready.

Keep your pre-shot routine to a minimum, Line your shot up and hit as soon as possible.

Keep up with the group in front, if you fall behind take measures to catch up (two players head to the next tee while others finish putting)

Place your buggy on the way to the next tee when you reach the green.

Mark your card as you wait to tee off, not standing next to the green after putting.

If players can reduce their time per hole by 30 seconds, this equates to almost 10 mins per round and even though it doesn’t sound much this will have a flow on affect to groups behind you. 

Just remember that what you do in your game affects other members on the course

GLGC Mens Open 2018

The Gungahlin Lakes Men’s Open

will be held over the weekend of Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September 2018. It is a Golf NSW Vardon and Senior Order of Merit event.

Saturday—Two tee start from 0700—0900 and 11.15 to 12.20pm

Sunday—Shotgun start at 08.15am

Open to MALE golfers with a current Golf Australia Handicap from a recognised Golf Club affiliated with a State or Overseas Association. Players (55+) are also automatically entered in the SOOM competition.

ENTRY FEE $60 Visitors  $40 Members   (Player numbers are limited)

Please note that members will be charged $60 when booking, but a discount will be applied before finishing your booking to reduce the cost to $40 (members entry cost)

PRIZES  36 Hole Gross and Nett Events (plus Daily Prizes and NTPs)

Prizes will be awarded in three grades.  A player is eligible to win only one daily prize, plus one overall (two day) prize. Senior Order Merit prizes (55+) on Day 1.      

Presentation will be as soon as possible after all scores are posted, estimated time 2.30pm.

EARLY BIRD ENTRIES— Book early to choose your preferred tee time. ( The Match Committee reserves the right to vary tee times).

Entries close Monday 17th September @ 1:00pm or when field is at capacity. Final draw will be published by Wednesday 19 August 2018 and posted on the GLGC website www.gungahlinlakes.com

Junior fundraising

This Saturday the 4th of August will see the launch of a new initiative to assist our Junior golfers. To help raise money a 1-100 number board will be sold at $2 per number. once all numbers are sold, the draw will take place Saturday evening at the Members badge draw. Winner will receive $100. Members may purchase more than one number in the draw, so please dig deep and give towards a good cause.
