Information for members in the Flexible 20 Category……

Information for members in the Flexible 20 Category……

All Members …. in particular, those in our Flexible 20 membership category.

We have recently been approached by some of our members in the Flex 20 membership category about what happens when they reach their 20 competition game limit and how they can continue to play for the remainder of the golfing year (October to end of September).  A number of these people were nearing the end of their game allowance and wanted to know how they could continue to play for the remainder of the year.

In looking at some of these individual cases we have noticed that when we set the rules around this membership category in place, we included those games played in the Tuesday competitions. As most of you would know this a competition that the Proshop runs and visiting members can play for just the competition fee, which is $12. In this context, removing a game from those available to our Flex 20 members as part of their game allowance , is unfair and not what was intended for the membership category.

Following discussions with the Ainslie Group and our Golf Club Committee we have agreed that those Tuesday competition rounds that have been used in the 20 game allowance will be returned to players which in some cases will give them plenty of games for use in the remainder of the golfing year.  Where players have used their 20 games outside of the Tuesday competition, or are nearing this point, there are two options, as follows:

  • pay green fees for the remainder of the golfing year.  This is a good option for those who are not intending to pay regularly in the remaining three months of the golfing year.
  • For those wanting continuing access to the course for both social and competitions rounds until the end of the golfing year, they should talk to the Golf Manager (Tim Payne) or Judy O’Connor (Ainslie’s membership officer) and pay the required additional money required for continued playing.  The amount owed will be based on the pro-rated amount for the remainder of the golfing year.

Also, simply for your information at this stage, the Committee is in the process of giving some thought to how we can improve the operation of this membership category. We do not envisage major changes but there are some things we can do to better be able to administer this membership category.  As we refine our thinking I will update you.

Good golfing

The attached document provides a useful guide on how to correctly take relief from red and yellow penalty areas.

Please take the time to have a look at the document to avoid taking an incorrect drop (which incurs a further two penalty strokes).

GLGC Guidance Statement No 7 -‘No Show’ Policy (Rev May 2015)

Any Member who fails to arrive for a booked or allocated tee time in a club competition, without advising
the starter within a reasonable time (at least 20 minutes prior to the allocated tee time), may be subject
to administrative action as outlined in this policy.
1st Instance
The incident is recorded by the Committee on a No Show Register and no penalty is imposed. The
Committee may contact the member to seek an explanation. If no further instance occurs within the six
month time frame, the Member’s name will be removed from the Register.
2nd instance within 6 months
The incident is recorded by the Committee on a No Show Register.
The Member is sent a letter / email advising of his/her failure to show for the tee time for a second time
and also affording the opportunity to provide an explanation for the second “No Show”.
The Member will also be reminded that the Committee has the discretion to impose sanctions on those
Members who fail to comply with Club policy in this area and that a suspension of playing rights is
possible and that a 3rd instance within 6 months may result in removal of internet and kiosk booking rights
on MiClub.
3rd instance within 6 months:
The incident is recorded by the Committee on a No Show Register.
The Member is sent a letter advising of his/her failure to show for the tee time and affording the
opportunity to provide an explanation for the third “No Show”. Acceptance of any explanation for failure
to show will be at the discretion of the Match Committee. If the explanation is not considered satisfactory,
the Member’s playing rights may be suspended for a period of between 15 and 30 days with effect from
14 days after the date of the letter (email) and the matter will be addressed as a disciplinary matter in
accordance with the Club’s Rules. The Disciplinary Committee’s decision will be influenced by whether the
No Show was for an individual or a team event.
Should the decision be to impose a penalty, the Member’s playing rights will be suspended for the period
determined; this includes overall use of the GLGC course and practice facilities. The suspended Member
will not be permitted to book into a competition until the period of suspension has expired. During the
period of suspension, the member will not be able to play in competitions at other Australian golf courses.
Suspended members not complying with this direction will have the matter referred to the Match
Committee for further disciplinary action. The Member will be advised of the suspension by telephone
and by letter /email.
Should a Member fail to comply with this policy on more occasions than is covered above, that Member
can be asked by a Disciplinary Committee to “show cause” why playing rights should not be terminated
indefinitely.
