Yellow Course competition

Yellow Course competition

Starting Sunday the 4th of August the committee will be trialing a limited field Yellow Course competition of a Sunday afternoon.

There will be a separate time sheet for the competition (opens at same time as normal comp) as will be limited to 16 players from 12:20-12:44. It will be a ProShop run comp with entry fee $10.

This is to allow members that are new to the game and shorter hitters access to the course under competition conditions. The trial will continue for a few weeks to gauge its popularity.

Summary of the outcomes from the Golf Club Committee meeting on 11 July….

Summary of the outcomes from the Golf Club Committee meeting on 11 July….

The following are the outcomes from the Golf Club Committee meeting held on 11 July:

  • Gold cladding on the outside of the club premises – There has been discussion with the Ainslie Group about the appearance of the gold cladding on the exterior of the building and the weathered appearance of the clock. The Ainslie Group has recognised the need for this work to be done and is settling the trade arrangements for the work to be done.
  • Entrance to the path leading down to the Pro-shop and the need for repairs to this area –  work to be undertaken to make this area more presentable and safe is approved with the work to commence when the trade arrangements are in place.
  • Two mobile sprinklers have been purchased to allow better watering of parts of the course that are not covered well by the irrigation system. Our thanks to the Ainslie Group for  covering the cost ($7000) of this equipment, allowing the Golf Club to spend our Course Maintenance Levy monies on the continued maintenance of the fairways, greens and bunkers.
  • The introduction of an Ainslie Group Point-of-Sale terminal in the Pro-shop – A Point-of-Sale terminal will be installed in the Pro-shop in the near future which will make it easier for prize winnings to be loaded on members AFSC cards.
  • Eligibility of Junior members to participate in the Monthly Medal draws – A proposal was put to Ainslie, which has now been agreed, for our Junior members to be able to participate in the Monthly Medal draws.  There are certain stipulations associated with the participation of Juniors in these draws.  This now means that our junior members (and their parents) are now eligible to win the Badge and other draws held at the Monthly Medal presentations.
  • The Women’s Open Day – Preparations are well under way for the next Women’s Open day to be held on Thursday 26 September.  Di Carlos, as the Women’s Captain, is the key contact for this event.
  • New non-slip matting on the bridges – this matting was laid to improve the safety associated with crossing the bridges on icy mornings.  This work has now been completed, thanks  to Dad’s Army and the Ainslie Group who purchased the matting for us.
  • A new system for the allocation of games in the Flex 20 membership is being considered for the 2020 golfing year – a paper will be considered  on this matter at the next Committee meeting.  Our aim is to ensure that the Flex 20 the category is serving the players that choose this category of membership well and offers a good level of  flexibility to players.

Good golfing …
