The GLGC Committee is currently exploring a range of options to upgrade our computer and scoring systems and has agreed to trial the use of the MiScore smartphone app for a period of around two months. This is one of a number of options being considered to improve both the efficiency of managing score cards and the experience of players in scoring and finalising their rounds.
It was previously decided not to trial MiScore as there was no capacity for a player to score their own round on their own phone. This made the app incompatible with other actions implemented to help protect members during the COVID-19 crisis. Following recent changes that allow players to score their own round it was agreed to participate in the trial. We ask that all members choosing to use the app use the self score functionality.
Members can download the MiScore app to their smart phone from the iTunes and Google Play stores. Further information and instructions can be accessed from the following site: https://www.miclub.com.au/cms/miscore-app/.
To log into the app you are required to select Gungahlin lakes and then enter your user details – these are your 10 digit golflink number and the password you use to access the members only booking page.
At the end of the trial period the Committee will consider feedback from members, pro shop staff and close-out volunteers on how MiScore performed, both on the course and with regard to the administration of competitions. This feedback will be used to help inform a decision on which system upgrades will be implemented.
Please note that MiScore, including its GPS function, runs continuously for the duration of the round. Some members that have found that older phones may not have sufficient battery supply to last a full round. Should you choose to use MiScore, we recommend you take a regular scorecard with you for your first round while you learn how to use the app and how it will affect your phone’s battery.
