Saturday 15th January 2022 Presentation Day

Saturday 15th January 2022 Presentation Day
This Saturday is our Presentation Day/Green’s Keepers Revenge Golf Day.
It is a fun event with some interesting course changes/set up that will test your golf game. The MiScore app will not be available due to some holes being changed etc so make sure you have a pencil (old style paper scorecards).

Also bring some gold coins as there will be extra “challenges” that could win you some $$$ (and raise money for the Jarrod Lyle Foundation).
There will be signs throughout the course to give directions and instructions for each hole.

It is a 08:00 Shotgun start and an indiviual stableford event (will not be handicapped)
Have fun, enjoy the day and stick around after for sausage sandwiches and the Presentation of trophies for the 2021 season.

Member Update 13 December – summary from the December Golf Club Committee meeting

Member Update 13 December – summary from the December Golf Club Committee meeting

Summary from Committee December 2021 Golf Club Committee meeting

The President

  • No meeting with Ainslie this month. Had covered off relevant issues in the lead-up to the AGM.
  • Splash published for December and hard copies put on the tables in the Spike Bar for those interested. Member numbers listed included as at 3 December. At 619 we are pleased with how the numbers stand, at this stage in the year.  Optimal number is somewhere between 650 and 700.
  • Leo Davies and Tracey Banister welcomed as new members to the Committee. A full list of the Committee has been published on the Website.

The Treasurer

  • The bottom line is that we are in a solid financial position noting the impacts of COVID and its effects on the competitions run by the Committee, from which we earn revenue. We have funds of around $61,000 available.

The Captains

  • Championships completed and apart from a few minor issues the tournament was rated as very successful. There is a recognition that our communication regarding timings and event rules could be better.
  • The new members handbook is in final draft and will be available to members in the near future. We will post information when it is released.
  • Some preliminary information on Pennant teams (both men and women) was noted. Communication has started with team managers from last year There are lists on the notice board asking for interested players to note down their early interest.  More information to be distributed as the year progresses.
  • The Committee (led by Mike Hogben) is undertaking a review of the handicap ranges for each grade to ensure a fair and equitable distribution of the prizes available. Members will be notified when this piece of work has been completed.

Greens

  • Greens and surrounds have been groomed, dusted with sand and sprayed in the last week
  • Tees and fairways will be sprayed in the coming week for broadleaf weeds. The effect should be noticeable in the next 10 days.
  • Some dangerous trees have been removed on the 7th There are further trees to be removed on holes 4,9 and 13 which will be actioned in the coming weeks.

Capital Works

  • A discussion had started regarding the projects that we might undertaken during 2022. As noted recently in ‘Splash’ this is an iterative process and involves a number of discussions by the Committee.  We have, at this stage, had an early/starter discussion with decisions likely to be agreed at our next meeting in February.  The Committee does not meet in January.
  • This discussion will enable the existing Course Management Plan to be updated.

Other Business

  • Presentation day – this will be combined with the opening event in 2022 (15 January). The game will be an 8.00 am shotgun start to be followed by a light lunch and the presentations. We have named the game the Greenkeepers Revenge.  Should be a fun day.
  • Communication – we started a discussion on how to further improve communication with members. There is general agreement that this means using more email based communication to supplement this information put on Facebook and the Website.
  • A review of membership categories will be undertaken during the year. Compared with most other clubs we have a lot of membership categories. We plan to look at what a range of other clubs are doing in this space and see what, if anything, we might do to streamline the membership process.  We will keep you informed as this work progresses.

Lifestyle Members

Lifestyle Members

We have been advised by MiClub that there is an error in our booking system that means lifestyle members may not have their points correctly deducted when using the ‘book me’ option to book an individual cell in the booking sheet. We understand that points will still be deducted if using the ‘book group’ option.

To avoid creating increased pressure on the timesheets we are leaving the ‘book me’ functionality in place. During the week Tim will review all lifestyle bookings and, where necessary, make manual adjustments to members’ points balances.

This should not affect existing bookings, only those made from this afternoon onwards.

MiClub are working to resolve the issue, but at this stage we do not know how long it will take to apply a fix.
