Member Update – 3 November 2022

A couple of things to bring to your attention:

Monthly Medal game and presentation moved from Saturday 5 November to Saturday 12 –November.  You may have notice from the Schedule of events that we publish in Splash that a new date has been notified.  We had planned to do the normal major Greens renovations immediately after the Club Championships and, with this in mind, we changed the date of the November Monthly Medal to 12 November, to ensure that the Greens had time to recover.  We have now decided the normal renovations are not necessary and will do a less substantial renovation as soon as the wetness of the course permits.  That said, the course will be great condition for the Medal game with the later date, it being the Medal of Medals game. 

This means that the bi-monthly presentation scheduled for 5 November has been moved to 12 November. 

Remember…

• 5.30pm hot bar snacks served
• Presentations to occur at around 6.00pm.
• A members’ draw of $300 which to win, you have to be attendance. Numbers will continue to be ‘rolled’ until the someone wins the $300.   

It would be great if you can join us in making our Medal presentations better club occasions and, in doing so, celebrate the achievements of our playing members.  Remember you have to be in attendance to win the $300 on the night.  We are looking to increase the numbers from the 50 attendees we had at the last presentation.

The AGM and the election of the 2023 Committee – As the AGM approaches it is also time for you to be thinking about who you would like to represent you on the Committee for the coming year. If you are interested in nominating for a position on the Committee, Nomination Forms are available via the Website or from the Golf Manager. The form provides information on what the different roles on the Committee are. You will need to complete the Nomination Form and have your nomination seconded by a current and financial member the Golf Club, if you are interested in nominating. I encourage you all to consider whether you would like to nominate. Nominations for the Committee will close on Thursday 10 November. Voting will then be opened on Friday 11 November and will close on Friday the 18th. Your new Committee and its various Executive appointments will be announced at the AGM.  

The AGM is scheduled for Tuesday 22 November commencing at 7.00pm in the Spike Bar.  Put this date into your diary and come along and listen to the Committee report on the year’s operation of the Golf Club.  It is of course also your opportunity to ask any question that you may have in respect of the club’s operation.

Member Numbers – We have 622 members of the Club as at the beginning of November.  Numbers always decrease at the start of the year but begin to build again as the year progresses.  We concluded the golfing year with 761 members.

Some sad news…..

Members

Some sad news today.  Laurie Cannon, a long standing member of the club and a friend to many, passed away earlier today at Clare Holland House.  Those who have played with Laurie will remember him as happy and engaging individual who always looked on the bright side of life.

Our thoughts and wishes are extended to Cheryl and family members.  He will be greatly missed.
