Member Update – 7 December 2022

Members

The Member’s Handbook containing the schedule of events for 2023 will be published shortly on the club’s Website and notified to this effect on our Facebook page.  Talking of Facebook, I would encourage those who don’t access our site to become a member, to ensure you are seeing the messages and information published.  Our moderators are: Tracey Banister, Abul Rizvi and Wayne Bennett.  You will find the contact details for these folks in the Members Directory on the Website and they will be able to help you access the site if you would like to see the comments from members and stay up-to-date.

We had the Annual General Meeting on 22 November.  I would have like to see more members in attendance but, I accept that this type of meeting is not of interest to everyone.  If you are interested in reading through the Minutes of the meeting click on the following link –  GLGC AGM 22 November 2022 Meeting Minutes

At the meeting we talked through issues associated with:

  • Committee sub-committees – who on the Committee would lead the various areas of work with the above agreed as the various leads.
  • The Course Management Plan 2023-28 – A draft revised plan was tabled and discussed in the context of areas of priority for work to be done on the course during the coming years but in particular in 2023. These priorities will be notified to members in the coming weeks.
  • The charities to be supported by the club during 2023 – It was agreed that these would be:
    • Breast Cancer – our Wear-it-pink day
    • Prostate Cancer – money to go to the Cancer Council ACT day/date to be agreed
    • Jarod Lyle Foundation – Green Keepers Revenge game
    • Legacy – this is our Digger’s Cup event
  • Junior’s funding and a Guidance Statement in support of small grants the club (with the support of Ainslie) can make to our developing junior players. A Guidance statement is being refined and will be notified to members in the coming weeks.
  • Xmas Hamper – value of prizes to be awarded on the day of the event (10 December)

On a final note, our very best wishes to you and your families and safe travels if you are heading out of Canberra over the holiday period.

Best wishes.

New version of MiClub….for mobile devices

Members

The MiClub mobile version is here.

This new feature automatically recognizes you are trying to access your club’s site from a mobile device and re-formats the display into a mobile friendly view (particularly for mobile phones). Features of the MiClub Mobile site:

  • Make bookings via a mobile device (Make a Booking)
  • View current bookings (My Bookings)
  • Update your personal details any time (My Details)
  • Automatically re-formats the website when accessed from a mobile device
  • Check club news via a mobile device
  • Search for fellow members contact details (Directory)
  • View Live Leaderboards (daily competitions, Order of Merit competitions, Eclectic competitions etc)
  • Check your statistics over previous rounds (My Stats)
  • View results
  • Get directions to the club
  • Ability to switch to full site version at any time

The mobile version has been activated for the club and so from now on your mobile device will automatically access the clubs golf booking system in a mobile friendly version.

Checking my iPad tonight the mobile version does not appear to have flowed through but my understanding is that it will.  I encourage you to experiment with the new mobile version and get familiar with it.  From all reports it is much more ‘user friendly’.

We will keep you updated as further information is made available.

Richard Oliver / President

Green’s Keepers Revenge

Green’s Keepers Revenge

This will be the last harassing post with regards to “The Greenkeepers Revenge” (from me). Please remember to bring a bit of cash for various fund raisers during the round for The Jarrod Lyle Charity Challenge. For the early starters “ain’t she a beauty” will be set up and ready to be breached from 7am – you just need an independent (reliable) witness to see your ball sail the 56m and remain in the vessel to win the cash prize.

Remember its a fun day, so enjoy the novel way the course has been set up
