This three round Honour Board event was played on 16th June, 14th July and 28th July 2013. Teams of two players compete over the three events – the lowest total score is the winner. Prize vouchers for the top three teams have been given to the Pro Shop for collection – the winning players also receive a trophy at the Presentation Night.
2011 champions John Price and Chips Raftery have snared another honour board title with the lowest score for many years – I’m thinking Bushrangers might be a more appropriate team name next year. Finally found out that wranger is Aussie slang for red head (ginger, carrot top, etc) so the team should be easy to spot – they did well to take out second place though many shots behind. Despite a slow start, Burglars did live up to their name to claim third place. The big lesson from this year is “never play with a family member” – Dennis Murray deserted his son Chris for the final round, the Harrys performed like rank beginners and the Sons of Norm, well what can we say – pathetic, disgraceful, shameful?

Round 1 – Animal Power and Animals are not as fierce as they make out but the Bandits definitely lived up to their name (so what happened to the Burglars?). I think Norm is hiding his head in shame after the effort by his sons. One of the early favourites, Avengers, must have had a falling out during the game – Patrick is on a run to nowhere at present thanks to his loss in the first round of the matchplay (to a Wranger). Wrangers Wrath are well in the race and as the Bandits fell apart last year the teams close behind need only produce some form to claim the title.
Round 2 – Scores were high in this round as players struggled to handle the course and the foursomes format. Burglars started their run in this round with an excellent 68.875. Avengers also got going to move up in the rankings with a 70.375. De Boys raised their flag a few millimetres as well with 71.125 but the Bandits stayed in front with a steady 71.625. Fantastique did not, in fact, play fantastiquely with last place score of 83.625.
Round 3 – After a shocker in round 2 Dazzlers stood up and lead the way with a fine 62 though Bandits proved too strong to romp home with another good score of 65. Early Birds finally found the worm in this round with a 66. Kuddly Koalas showed that consistent mediocrity really is mediocre with three scores within 2 strokes of each other to take out 7th place in a field of 16 – perhaps too much Powerade before the games?
