Vale David Wicks

Vale David Wicks
It is with the deep regret and profound sadness that we advise members of the passing of Dave Wicks. After a series of treatments Dave lost his battle with cancer yesterday and passed peacefully with family at his side at Clare Holland House.

Dave has been a long time golf club member, a contributor to our club particularly during special events and he loved donning a BBQ apron. Dave will also be remembered for his uplifting spirit and unending sense of humour, even during the worst of golf rounds.

Our condolences go out to Fiona, Sam and Ben who will need our support in the coming weeks and months.
Dave’s funeral will be at the Norwood Crematorium at 10:30am on Monday 16 September.

Details of club recognition and farewell events will be advised.

Invitation to take part in a tribute to Tony Wood

Invitation to take part in a tribute to Tony Wood

Members, as a golf club we would like to pay tribute to Tony Wood following his passing last week.

If you knew Tony and would like to say farewell to him in a golfing way:

  • Come along to the driving range at 4:30pm on Friday 13 September.
  • Bring your own ball, marked with a message to Tony (as simple as RIP or a symbol, or whatever message you’d like to add).
  • Bring a your own club. We will line up for coordinated tee-offs, with the balls being collected afterwards and used as range balls for months or years to come, as an ongoing reminder of the work Tony did for our club.
  • There is a closed family wake in the Spike Bar afterwards, but I suspect many might head upstairs to raise a glass.

President
